MONUMENTUM, Anzano del Parco, Italy, Object, 2013Read less
A travertine monolith serves as the concrete reference and symbol of the burial site. By approaching the grave, it is possible to discover a pyramid-shaped hollow carved within the block. Rainwater is collected within the monument, creating reflections between earth and sky that suggest a continuous correspondence between the deceased and the living. The sky is mirrored, evoking a spiritual and religious dimension through the intimate experience of memory. The monument and the cross are kept separate to emphasize the meaning of each element; each part acquires a distinct and elevated significance.
