Following the expansion of the basement with the UNDERGROUND PATIO project, the clients requested a facade renovation project. The intervention on the building envelope redefines the composition of the house, balancing solids and voids through the design of windows and loggias, as well as through the definition of a solid base. The original building was characterized by an ordinary architectural language, with reinforced concrete volumes, pitched roofs of varying heights, and small openings. The project introduces a more cohesive and expressive design. A key element is the reinforced concrete wall of the patio from the previous project, which defines the horizontal line of the base from which the massive volumes emerge. These volumes are enhanced by a textured plaster finish and punctuated by openings with splayed reveals oriented toward the sun. Shimmering aluminum windows and parapets contrast with the solid plastered surfaces. Their design is inspired by the details of Alpine vernacular architecture, reinterpreting decorative slats and geometric patterns to ennoble the simplicity of the construction materials. By balancing materiality, proportion, and light, the project unifies past and present, transforming the building into a pure and essential architectural composition.
