What are the boundaries of Water Landscapes?
Inspired by the intuition of the “City of Lakes,” which proposes a new reading of the Insubrian region, we broaden our perspective to reflect on a wider territorial context north and south of the Alps, with particular interest in the pre-Alpine areas. The aim is to highlight common features and specificities, as well as differences within a territory that, through its landscape and morphological continuity, appears as a mosaic of identities. In this new conceptual journey, we involved experts, architects, landscape designers, and urban planners to present virtuous examples from this extended territory. Short narratives that show how water influences everyday life, the development of cities and regions, and ultimately shapes culture and identity. Architecture emerges as a tangible witness to the dialogue between humans, water, and landscape.
A new map emerges, free from territorial and political borders, emphasizing continuity through the element of water. A fresh perspective capable of generating transversal relationships and offering a unified image of this territory as a shared landscape, collective identity, and vision for the future.
